I picked up another five boxes of dry plates yesterday from a local chap who was clearing out a relatives collection. So my collection of sealed boxes of dry plates is growing.

I’ve got a project in mind for most of these. If anyone has any experience of any of these plates then drop me a line. Yes I realise they are well out of date, but in their favour they are all still sealed. I’ve shot some 1950’s 1/4 plates before with good results so I’ll not write these off quite yet.
I’ve used a number of these types of plates recently, of similar ages. The best (and most consistent) results I’ve had are from the Soft Gradation Panchromatic plates, but the Kodak O.250 plates have also tended to be very usable. The faster Kodak plates in my experience have aged worse than Ilford plates (I may have simply been unlucky in the storage of them, but these have been from various sources). The general rule of thumb that emulsions lose sensitivity by half every decade is a good starting point for tests, but not always the case, especially with slower films. All the plates I’ve used have been stand developed in Rodinal 1:100 for around an hour. Enjoy!
