A Collodion Social – the return visit.

It’s been nearly thirteen years since Shane Balkowitsch visited my old studio in Manchester for a collodion social. Since then he has become on of the most prolific wet plate artists around, documenting native Americans in his daylight studio in North Dakota, lecturing in high school and college, and providing a creative wet plate environment for students and his friends.

Now in 2025 its time for another visit.

So, on Thursday 7th of August I’ll be having another wet plate social to coincide with Shanes visit. Feel free to pop along for as long as you like or even for the full day. We’ll be shooting plates, talking photography, eating, drinking and enjoying the day till late. Maybe not as late as last time, I’m not as young as a I was and I don’t think my liver could take it.

Let me know if you fancy calling in, or just pop by anyways, the door will be open.

Shane is visiting after his lecture at the Bodleian Library, Oxford University and prior to the UK Wet Plate Weekend at Guys Cliffe, Warwick. Contact Ray Spence for details about the weekend.
