On returning from Portugal I found this wonderful package waiting for me. Inside a brand new “Union case“. These were originally ornate, hinged, hard cases for housing daguerreotypes and ambrotypes.

This lovely example is the hard work of my good friend, Gregg McNeill, a fellow photographer and general all round good egg.

Gregg has taken a great deal of time getting the details just right with his modern resin interpretation.

A lovley cloth taped hinge, red velvet pillow and glass fronted brass like matt surround. The clasp is more contemorary than the Victorian version but a very nice touch.

The website for orders is still in the making, so its lovely to receive this gifted early example.

Thank you Gregg, great work and truly appreciated.
