Yesterday Steph and I were at the wedding of Kate and Simon. Kate had asked if I’d bring along the wet plate gear and if there was time if I’d shoot a couple of plates.
As expected the Bride was very busy after the ceremony meeting guests, family and friends. So after quickly double checking with her she said she’d love me to shoot a plate.
I had 30 minutes to set up and shoot and pack away again before the speeches and the reception began.
Thanks to Dave and the best men for the helping hand setting up and putting away.
I’d normally shoot a test plate or two for this sort of thing but there really wasn’t the time. Fist whole plate was fogged and a little blurred due to the 4 second exposure at f8. A quick change of lens and down to 1.5 seconds ish at f4.5 with a reflector.
Also I found that the aluminium plates were covered in varnish which had leaked on them in the box…. oops. Nothing like working under pressure and something going wrong.
So here you go. A formal whole plate tintype of the happy couple, it was a lovely day, thank you for inviting us.
