The past few months I have been involved with a small number of Photographers/Artists that have been gathering together as an informal group, no pre-determined agenda, purpose or plan, just to see what “develops”.
Previously we had met at each others studios and of course the pub. This time we met up at MMU Special Collections, kindly organised by Curator Stephanie Boydell and Jane Pendlebury.
They had provided us with a great selection of Photographic/Artists books, many still in Copyright, so sorry, no quick snaps for the blog, apart from Eadweard Muybridges “Animal Locomotion”! I think that was put out for my benefit surely.
Having just returned from the University of Pennsylvania it was a pleasant surprise to see that this was published under the auspices of Upenn.
We’d just like to say thank you to Stephanie and Jane for making us feel so welcome and for making available these wonderful items from the MMU Special Collections.
We also met with John Davis, the Curator of the current exhibition:
Projecting British Design: the Design Council Slide Collection in focus
18 April – 28 May 2016
MMU Special Collections Gallery,3rd Floor,
Sir Kenneth Green Library
An exhibition charting the key debates around British design and taste in the decades after the Second World War through the prism of a nationally important visual archive.
So thats where my camera ended up.
Love this one…. wonder if I can get hold of it after the exhibition?
This is an amazing visual resource now saved from obsolescence! (Yes I had to look that word up).
On till 28th May, well worth a look and open to the Public. Go see it!
