Today I began cleaning the studio as its in good need of it but to break up the monotony of it all I put together all the wood/brass cameras and took a quick plate. With all the cameras in the shot I had to shoot it on the old Kodak Brownie. Its surprising how sharp that lens is and I really like the format.
Most of the cameras need some work, whether that be new bellows, lenses or plate holders. We need to have a bit of a clear out soon.
This was around 2 pm and it was pretty dark and dismal out the window. The Brownie lens is about f8. Surprisingly the exposure was a staggering 12 minutes and it still needed pushing a little with the development. 12 minutes has got to be the longest exposure I’ve done yet. Not sure what effect this has on the wet chemistry and how it should look if it starts to dry out. There was a little silvering around the top of the plate but apart from that it looked fine. Unless as its drying the sensitivity lessens hence the longer exposure??? Who knows??
Heres a quick colour image a few days later as John wanted an image of all the cameras with him in it for a different blog. I’m the better looking chap on the left….;)
And to think I felt guilty because I have 6 cameras …
Hi Phil,
They are not all mine to be fair. I’ll be having a clear out over the next couple of weeks as the studio is getting just a little cluttered.
Thanks for popping by.
