<\/p>\nA lovely quarter plate uncased ambrotype, added to the collection, I thought it might have been in a worse condition than it actually is.<\/p>\n
It was advertised on a white background, so all the cracks in the asphaltum were showing through. These are on the reverse of the plate, not the emulsion side, so after placing on a black background she looks almost as good as new, even though still highly scratched in the varnish<\/p>\n

I’ll be posting up an amazing collection of dry plate negatives soon which will require some investigative work.<\/p>\n
I’ll also be looking at cataloguing my collection. Any thoughts on what software is best to do this? Adobe Bridge?<\/p>\n
