These are some plates taken after shooting some work digitally for Steve Dixon, Professorial Research Fellow in Contemporary Crafts at MMU. (link)<\/a><\/p>\n

I had originally asked Steve if it would be okay to make some plates of his latest work and it turned out that he was pretty interested in the possibility of using wet plate imagery with ceramic transfer printing.<\/p>\n

These are a variety of trophy aluminium, clear glass and black glass. All 5×7. Exposures from 15-20 seconds. Quick clear Collodion, Rapid Fix.<\/p>\n

We had particular problems with the darker glaze (brown) on the left side of the ceramics face. It has strong red pigmentation so comes out deep black, had to flood it with light to pick up any detail at all.<\/p>\n
