{"id":2439,"date":"2011-06-10T07:27:43","date_gmt":"2011-06-10T07:27:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fourtoes.co.uk\/iblog\/?p=2439"},"modified":"2019-08-30T16:15:51","modified_gmt":"2019-08-30T16:15:51","slug":"from-big-to-small","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fourtoes.co.uk\/iblog\/from-big-to-small\/","title":{"rendered":"From big to small"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just for a bit of fun, as mentioned over on the Collodion forum, heres a few attempts at shooting some much smaller plates.<\/p>\n<p>First started with the old Kodak VPC that was in bits, put it back together and removed the frame viewing window at the back, then attached a SD card holder with a cut hole in it.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2440\" title=\"gent004\" src=\"http:\/\/fourtoes.co.uk\/iblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/gent004.jpg\" alt=\"gent004\" width=\"576\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fourtoes.co.uk\/iblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/gent004.jpg 576w, https:\/\/fourtoes.co.uk\/iblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/gent004-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This didnt work too well, I was getting an image but nothing recognisable.<br \/>\nPlates were around 12 x 15mm ish.<\/p>\n<p>Then moved on to my new 1\/4 plate camera, made a quick plywood plate insert for the holder, around 20mm square. I&#8217;m no craftsman when it comes to woodwork.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2441\" title=\"gent003\" src=\"http:\/\/fourtoes.co.uk\/iblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/gent003.jpg\" alt=\"gent003\" width=\"576\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fourtoes.co.uk\/iblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/gent003.jpg 576w, https:\/\/fourtoes.co.uk\/iblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/gent003-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Starting to get somewhere now, with all the chopping and changing I totally forgot that the 20mm square plate would be a 20mm square image on the ground glass screen. Doh. Resulting in a few cropped heads etc.<\/p>\n<p>Heres the results have a quick wash in a now huge bath.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2442\" title=\"gent001\" src=\"http:\/\/fourtoes.co.uk\/iblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/gent001.jpg\" alt=\"gent001\" width=\"576\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fourtoes.co.uk\/iblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/gent001.jpg 576w, https:\/\/fourtoes.co.uk\/iblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/gent001-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><br \/>\nSome were obviously better than others.<\/p>\n<p>Colodion pours this size can be a bit messy. I did start with a pipette but soon converted back to a bottle pour.<br \/>\nSensitised in a small silver bath tray.<br \/>\nDev&#8217;ed as usual but getting the dev to stay on the whole of the plate was a little tricky, tended to pool in the centre and avoid the edges.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2460\" src=\"https:\/\/fourtoes.co.uk\/iblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2011\/06\/gent0022.jpg\" alt=\"gent002\" width=\"576\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fourtoes.co.uk\/iblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/gent0022.jpg 576w, https:\/\/fourtoes.co.uk\/iblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/gent0022-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I might have another crack at the Kodak VPC as I think just making an insert for a holder is the easy way out, adapting a different type of camera is much more fun.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just for a bit of fun, as mentioned over on the Collodion forum, heres a few attempts at shooting some much smaller plates.
