This is a lovely Albumen portrait print of a young woman by Balmain of Edinburgh<\/a>. As the prices of Victorian ambrotypes\/tintypes continues to rise I’ve taken to looking at well executed albumen portraiture examples. I think this is because I am showing more interest towards the printed image than the one off plate. I’ll be concentrating on this over the Autumn.<\/p>\n

There is a small embossed photographers stamp lower right but it was difficult to read.<\/p>\n

Raked light and desaturation makes it much easier “Balmain Edinburgh”.<\/p>\n

Crop just about showing some of the negative touch up marks coming through the skin areas of the print.<\/p>\n
