Marie Canning Ceramics

I’m just having a break from editing yesterdays digital re-shoot for ceramic artist Marie Canning, and taking a look at some of the plates that we shot at the end of the day.

Quarter plate ambrotypes.

Main image above f4 and eight seconds with the Interfit lights.

The one below was the first test plate with Nicola leaning against the wall with window light from behind. I love the lighting in this one and especially how the light drops totally off from Nicolas face. If I remember rightly this had to be way over developed. Exposure was 15 seconds and bounced reflectors, still not enough to illuminate Nicolas face, the wonders and challenge of UV light and wet plate.

Check out her work on her website. These are hand thrown on a potters wheel. Amazing stuff.
