Robert O’Callaghan was visiting Manchester for an RPS event, so last night he popped by the studio to shoot some plates and try out his new Elinchrom Strobes…. all 16000 w/s of them!!!!
Granted we only needed 8000 but its nice to know he has that capability.
We were joined by Mark Scholey and Mark Voce for a chippy tea and some ale.
Various lenses from f4 – f4.5, one (HUGE) pop of flash and about a meter or more from the subject. 5 month old collodion.
Some quarter plates…

Me by Robert.
Mark Scholey by me.
So, good to know his strobes work well and he has plenty of heads/packs for some creative lighting. These were shot with just one bare 8000w/s head and a reflector the other side.
Was good to meet up again Robert.
I think I need to upgrade my mobile phone as the camera on this one is getting worse!
wow, 8000w/s strobe??? where did you get them from?
Not mine unfortunately Mark. These belong to Robert, he found them on Ebay and got them for a very fair price.
Four packs, two 8K heads and two 4K heads…..
just really surprised, i don’t think I’ve ever come across 8k heads before!
Me neither, it had two 4K bulbs in one head! So you can choose to fire one or both!
