This is a lovely Albumen portrait print of a young woman by Balmain of Edinburgh. As the prices of Victorian ambrotypes/tintypes continues to rise I’ve taken to looking at well executed albumen portraiture examples. I think this is because I am showing more interest towards the printed image than the one off plate. I’ll be concentrating on this over the Autumn.
There is a small embossed photographers stamp lower right but it was difficult to read.
Raked light and desaturation makes it much easier “Balmain Edinburgh”.
Crop just about showing some of the negative touch up marks coming through the skin areas of the print.
