I’ve known Pete for a few years now, he’s been especially generous and kind by donating plates and negatives to my collection. He’s also a fellow camera nerd, today he dropped by the studio with an interesting lot.
A few dozen early colour film transparencies mounted as Magic Lantern slides.
I couldn’t wait so here’s a selection that jumped out. All between June and August 1937.
Not Autochromes but more likely something similar to Dufaycolor invented in 1935. You can make out the geometric mosaic layer using a magnifier. Autochrome is far more random in its mosaic of potato starch grains. Wiki link here.
I’ve not colour balanced them as they are quick hand held shots. I’ll take them to work and digitise them properly.
And a couple of dozen early stereo glass positives, given to Pete via Wayne who lives locally.
I thought this Amsterdam one looked familiar… I was stood on exactly the same spot two weeks ago.
